I just need a little more psyching up and then I will do it. Today, however, I will attempt to impart my recommendations for one of my favorite shows of all time: Supernatural. The basic plot of Supernatural is a something that has been recently retold in a variety of YA books. There are three books in particular that resonate as perfect readalikes for the series. In this book, two brothers, Alan and Nick, hunt demons avenging their dead father and taking care of their crazy mother.

The brothers are not particularly fond of them, seeing that the volumes directly violate the privacy of their own personal lives. The books begin with the Pilot , chronicling all the events of the Winchesters' lives until the publisher shut down after Dean's going to Hell in No Rest for the Wicked. The books are first introduced in The Monster at the End of This Book in which Castiel informs the brothers that this series of books will be known as The Winchester Gospel in the future. The books had more of an underground following cult and many fans indulged in slash-writing, pairing Sam and Dean or other characters in sexual situations. Even though publishing stopped after No Rest for the Wicked , Chuck continued writing up until The Monster at the End of This Book even later until Swan Song , completing the last chapter of the brothers' quest to avert the Apocalypse.

These books are a series of novels based on the actual events in Sam and Dean's life as revealed to Chuck Shurley , aka Carver Edlund, a prophet. Castiel tells Dean that these books will one day be known as the Winchester Gospels. This list excludes portions of season one and most of seasons two and three, although Red Sky at Morning and Time Is on My Side , are specifically mentioned as having been published. Chuck later tells Sam and Dean he has a backer who will help him publish more books, but Sam suggests in no uncertain terms that this would not be a good idea: "We have guns and we'll find you. The last book Chuck is known to write is " Swan Song "; he disappears when he finishes writing it.
