Hamilton Biography Review

The Alex & Eliza Trilogy Series

The new TV series offers an accurate depiction of what trauma survivors face in a sometimes backwards criminal justice process. Hamilton fever has swept the nation since the show written by Lin-Manuel Miranda opened on Broadway in fall With three productions running in the U. Through her historical fiction novel, de la Cruz explores their love story. Told from the alternating perspectives of both lovers, the book is clearly about the title couple, but it also features a look at the budding romances of the other Schuyler sisters and their beaus. She is much more materialistic, and already set on marrying John Church, who can provide her a fancy and comfortable lifestyle. This leaves Eliza as the sister who is more concerned with current issues and more open to falling in love with Hamilton.

Now, de la Cruz is taking on the story of a couple beloved by history buffs and Broadway fans: Alexander Hamilton and Eliza Schuyler Hamilton. What in particular about their love story inspired you? I loved the story of the poverty-stricken colonel and his beautiful bride from the most prestigious family in the Colonies. I just swooned to their love story. The disappointing I felt was three-fold. Second, I would have fallen more in love with Miranda's sweet, exuberant charm and nerdy excitement Third, anything even tangentially related to my obsession with Hamilton is going to make some serious waves, because I think everyone in the cast should win all of the awards ever, obviously. But it's okay. Miranda's got many more years of that song-writing to earn him that Oscar and in the meantime, I'll get through this by listening to the Moana soundtrack on repeat Oh, you've already read Ron Chernow's Hamilton biography and the Hamiltome?

Meet Eliza Schuyler Hamilton, wife of Alexander Hamilton and mother of their many children, who may not be as well known but is an amazing figure in history. I love a good historical fiction novel and My Dear Hamilton did not disappoint. More and more novels have been written about the women behind histories famous men and I have to admit I am in love with this trend. We all know the story of Alexander Hamilton, especially since the hit Broadway musical has captivated the world, but how many people know about the woman married to him. This novel guides us through their lives, their toils and triumphs, and the politics that shaped the nation in congress and the press but also in the ladies knitting circles and carefully planned dinners. This story by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie is a wonderfully written story about Eliza Hamilton, not just the wife of Alexander Hamilton, but a strong, independent, pioneer in her own right. 2. Tom S. says:

Just to be clear this is not a book about that version of Alexander and Eliza Hamilton. This isn't a rip off of the musical. It does feel as if it is an attempt to cash in.
